I got an email confirming the receipt of my primary application. No confirmation after submitting the video secondary, however. For those that received a secondary, did you get a confirmation email that Dell received your application
I didn’t after the secondary- however after I completed the video secondary I remember seeing a webpage that said they had received my application. For those that received a secondary, did you get a confirmation email that Dell received your application
Is this an II or for the secondary video interview?+1 IS, 517/4.0
They do prematch in October so it will be quick turn around for those who do get the IIs.Dell waiting to send out interviews a lot later this year it seems![]()
Why do you think so?They probably prematch like 5 people total right
My guess is they admit about 25 people in the first list.Class size 50 and I don't think they're prematch heavy. Could be wrong though
Just got a call for IS interview!
LM 76Congrats! Can you share your LM? Thanks
speak of the devil... just got off the phone with them! +1 IS II! LM 83They do prematch in October so it will be quick turn around for those who do get the IIs.
when is the first interview date?speak of the devil... just got off the phone with them! +1 IS II! LM 83
August 22nd, I pushed back to September 5th as I will not be available that day.when is the first interview date?
It's stated in the first post of this thread: about 20%how many people get secondaries
sorry, just a secondary - just seeing this now!Is this an II or for the secondary video interview?
I think that’s pretty common with DellDid anyone not receive confirmation of the primary application from Dell but still receive a secondary? I got a secondary and did the video but never got the primary confirmation email
Dude same, jumpscare frII just now! I almost dropped my phone in my oatmeal when I saw the caller ID pop up 😆
Dell sends out secondaries over several months. Your letters will get to them in timeDoes Dell wait until they receive your letters of evaluation/committee letter before they decide whether to send you a secondary invite? My school doesn't send out committee letters until August 15th and I haven't received a secondary invite so I am wondering if that is part of the reason
No idea on how slim the chances are this year. Maybe they will interview more this year than last, but I don't know the historic trends so I can't rly predict.I see on MSAR that they invited only 12 OOS applicants to interview out of > 1100...are the odds really that slim? I understand there are maximum 5 spots but it's still not many interviews. How about the II -> A conversion rate for OOS?
Thank you for this analysis! I wonder if last year was exceptional OOS yield because previous years' threads for Dell mentioned about 2-3 OOS matriculants per MSAR. This is backed by the Dell site specifically, as they state that 95% of their current students are Texas residents, even when they can have as low as 90%. My guess is that they have historically extended II's to their topmost OOS applicants and left it at that. It's just interesting how the OOS A rate seems to be at least double that of IS, but it makes sense given the sheer scarcity of OOS II's.No idea on how slim the chances are this year. On some med school consulting site I saw they offered admissions to 111 students total out of 368 interviewed last yr, so their yield was 45%. If this is true for OOS, then for 5 spots they would extend about 10 or 11 acceptances. Always possible that they have higher yield for OOS tho and so they only extend one or two more A's than they have spots. Based on last year's data assuming 100% yield, 12II>5A is almost a 42% acceptance rate for OOS.
The OOS people who got a Dell offer may have had an offer they preferred in an AMCAS school.Thank you for this analysis! The offers cant exceed 5. So if they interviewed a few exceptional candidates and made 5 offers, until those people turn down they cant offer more. Unlike instate match process that eliminates duplicate admissions early February allowing them to make more offers, OOS students can hang on to to their admissions until May 1st which makes it hard for a small school like Dell to interview too many people only to keep them all on hold.I see on MSAR that they invited only 12 OOS applicants to interview out of > 1100...are the odds really that slim? Thank you! Any insights on when they typically would offer admission to OOS candidates? Would it be in the early pre-match period around Oct-Nov or during Match period in Feb-Mar?The offers cant exceed 5. It's similar to Casper's video response section. Just smile, give thoughtful answers, and be yourself.Whats the best way to prepare for the MVA style questions?
Not at all, they space out their secondary emails over several monthsIf you haven't received a video secondary invitation by now, does that mean you likely will never? Thanks
Hey! As the one student at Dell who chose it over UTSW/Baylor, I'm curious, how did you find that information?? lolMy guess is they admit about 25 people in the first list.
They do lose people during match to Baylor, UTSW and there was at least one person who chose McGovern last couple of years. There was one who chose Dell over UTSW/Baylor last cycle.
They do admit lot more people than 50 by the end of the cycle.
I-35 trafficHey! As the one student at Dell who chose it over UTSW/Baylor, I'm curious, how did you find that information?? lol
Also I'm honestly shocked that I'm the only one. I've heard a lot of people in my class saying they ranked it over Baylor OR UTSW, maybe I'm just the only one that did both? To be honest, I'm VERY glad I chose Dell over them though because Dell (from my POV) seems pretty ideal. Top tier Step2 scores, top tier match list, amazing small community, in Austin, accelerated curriculum with free dual degrees... what isn't to love?
There were probably others who ranked Dell higher than UTSW & Baylor, and also others who matched at Dell despite not ranking it #1.Hey! As the one student at Dell who chose it over UTSW/Baylor, I'm curious, how did you find that information?? lol

i'd guess (again, just a guess) that last year quite a few ranked dell over baylor because of the "temple conundrum" at baylor.Hey! As the one student at Dell who chose it over UTSW/Baylor, I'm curious, how did you find that information?? lol

I am also confused where this information that one student did is coming from...I also go to Dell and know of a decent amount of us that did this loli'd guess (again, just a guess) that last year quite a few ranked dell over baylor because of the "temple conundrum" at baylor.

It is a sample of one to show student preferences - nothing to fret over.I am also confused where this information that one student did is coming from...I also go to Dell and know of a decent amount of us that did this lol
they do screen pretty hard considering they only interview like 350 in state studentsIS secondary LM 72.3 Also UT alumnus with a PhD back in 2019
I thought they screen as heavily as UCSF
No, you can ask for a later dateHello! Hypothetically, if they called and offered you two dates to interview, but you were not available during those dates, do you think this will hurt your application?
