Anyone know if there is typically a lot of movement in regard to waitlists at Touro Montana?

My interview is Monday and it’s my 4th interview this cycle but my first MMI style so I’m a bit nervous…any last minute tips from accepted students or anyone who interviewed?!

For the MMI, I’d recommend reviewing Casper-style questions and responses. I used ChatGPT to generate medical-style scenarios and fourth quartile level answers to practice, which ended up being really helpful for my interview. Good luck!

So after the presentation I heard that it would be 6-8 weeks for a decision but after my interview the interviewer said 2-3 weeks. It will be around 6 then?? None of the other schools I Interviewed at took more than 4 weeks.

Maybe they'll tell you earlier but I wouldn't bet on it. The people running the presentations also told us 6+ weeks and that ended up being the case.

Yes, most of the students here are open minded and progressive. A good amount of people are from California and also NY/NJ. We got people from all walks of life! It’s very diverse here at Touro. We are definitely like a bubble, not as diverse outside of Touro. There are a small group of students that are actually from MT, and they tend to be a bit more conservative but even so, they are pretty open-minded.

Great Falls is what you make out of it. Definately got the small town feel but surprisingly locals are welcoming. Mostly because they are very excited about having future doctors being taught here. I must say there are some nice coffee shops and a few nice food spots (shout out to Wheat bakery and Roadhouse diner!) but nothing compared to if you come from a big city. It’s pretty flat here so don’t expect mountains. However, as I speak right now I’m sitting in my car after taking a nice walk along the river with my doggo, lol. It does get windy here though, which sucks.

Curriculum is alright. As you may know, classes are graded with a passing score of 70. If you do not pass a total of 11 credits, you will mostly have to take an LOA/be asked to leave which about 7 students from my class last semester did. Unfortunately, classes are mandatory. We use the iClickers system for attendance as well as class participation grade. Luckily, this is good because these are easy points that can help your overall class grade.

We have classes from Monday-Thursday. Usually starts at 9am with class being 50 mins long. Have a break from 12-1pm and then finish at around 5pm give or take. Two of the four afternoons per week are Anatomy and OMM labs. We have the flipped style curriculum which is a joke imo. You’re supposed to see and learn the material BEFORE coming to class. By the middle of first semester almost everyone was just exam chasing, showing up to class for attendance but actually studying for other classes (mostly the exam that is coming up). Most of us were not really prepared for class. There are still a few students who do keep up with classes, and I applaud them!

Exams are usually not very curved we get about 2-3 points back but you may not get them. It all depends if those challenged questions are the ones you got wrong. Exams are on Mondays mostly, and Fridays.

For the most part, professors are good and willing to help you if you ask for it. You will have your favorites and you’re not-so favorites. But all have office hours and most of them also have some research going on, if you’re interested.

In my own experience, first semester was a lot more difficult. Content was harder and not as interesting. You’re also getting used to the fast-paced learning and all the material you need to know. It is 100%, this is like drinking from a fire hose, but where you end up going, you do get used to it! Second semester (so far) gets a bit better. Material is more interesting and most people by now has a routine that works for them. We did have a few weeks where we had back to back classes, with only three days in between each… exam chasing is real! It was bad bad lol, but that could of been me and the other 100 students exam chasing but we just did Path, followed by three days of studying for Microbio, followed by the weekend to study Pharm, RIP.

Lmk if you have any other questions!!
Can I DM you?
