2025-2026 NYU Secondary Prompts

1. If applicable, please comment on significant fluctuations in your academic record.

2. If you have taken any time off from your studies - before, during, or after college - please describe what you did during that time and your reasons for doing so.

3. NYU Grossman School of Medicine allows all our students to accelerate their medical educational training. To guide our curricular efforts focusing on early career exploration for our students, please select up to three residency specialties currently of interest to you. Please note that your selections do not impact your admissions decision, they not binding, and you may select “Undecided” if you are unsure of your future career path.

4. Please upload your most recent CV, ensuring it includes up-to-date publications, abstracts, and presentations.

5. The Admissions Committee evaluates a range of student qualities and life experiences that complement demonstrated academic excellence. What unique qualities do you possess that make you uniquely suited to become a physician or physician scientist? How have your individual lived experiences shaped your core values and desire to be a future leader in our profession? (2500 characters)

6. The most meaningful achievements are often non-academic in nature. Describe the personal accomplishment that makes you most proud. Why is this important to you? (2500 characters)

7. Conflicts arise daily from differences in perspectives, priorities, worldviews and traditions. How do you define respect? Describe a situation in which you found it challenging to remain respectful while facing differences? (2500 characters)

8. Describe a situation in which working with a colleague, family member or friend has been challenging. How did you approach the situation, and what did you gain from the experience that will benefit you as a future health care provider?
(2500 characters)

Good luck to all applying!

For the question on the three specialties of interest, is it something like a dropdown where I pick from a list of specialties? Or more like a write in thing

NYU says "We require a premedical committee appraisal letter (preferred) or two letters from professors who taught you in courses (at least one in science)." Does this mean I can submit more than that? I have at least two more letters that I want them to see, but it is very unclear whether the two letters is a maximum or a minimum. I cannot seem to find any other information on this. I would appreciate any insight!

According to MSAR it's a minimum I'm sure they accept more than 2

Is it stupid to apply here with a 514 MCAT and 3.9 sGPA from a rigorous t10 university? i dont want to waste my money and time..
Unfortunately, writing other schools' secondaries may be better worth your time

+1 OOS

The only prompt change is this one, very slight wording change:

Describe a situation in which working with a colleague, family member or friend has been challenging. How did you approach the situation, and what did you gain from the experience that will benefit you as a future health care provider? (2500 characters)

For prompts 6-8 do you have to answer all three or is it answer one of the three following and you pick which one?
