Just finished interviewing. The community member interview was surprisingly chill; the open file interviewer was the one that actually grilled me.

Yay congrats! Can you share a bit more about the community member interview was it mainly related to community service?

Mine was more about our story than like situation-based. We really had time for two questions only.

how does one stand out during interviews when interview--> acceptance rate is so low

this is gonna sound really cliché, but honestly just be yourself. The fact that you have an interview invite means that the school can see you going there. You have to show them what’s not on paper, your values, your ability to communicate, and ultimately they want to know if they can envision themselves having you around for at least four years. It’s definitely scary, but remember that making it this far means you are good enough

I don't want to give it away, but your community member may have a different approach, for all I know. Just be yourself, tell your story, and be prepared to answer any follow-up questions.

Still, I think it's important to have a list of what ur gonna say before the interview. If ur stumped by "tell me about yourself" or "why medicine", then having a good outline is good enough. Everything else like "ur hobbies and stuff" or "tell me about a time.." or some other weird fun fact questions, are things you can't be a computer for.

Congratulations! Saw penn state also sent a few oddly-timed IIs. Maybe your app reviewer wanted some overtime work hours 🤣 fingers crossed for a Sunday II tomorrow lol.
 
Interviews here were very structured. The community member interview was fine as well, not necessarily questions I had explicitly prepared for tho.
 
+1 II OOS - does anyone know when the dates are?
 
First round of decisions is November but do we know if it’s a specific date or is it scattered throughout the month?
 
Adding onto that will Nov 4th interviews likely be in the first batch

I’ve heard of people getting II’s on the weekend, so you can hope/crash out on the weekends too!

I’d write out the new campus preference essay, send it to them, and say (paraphrased):

“if possible I’d like to change campuses— here is the updated secondary essay on campus preference if this change would be possible. If not, I understand and would be thrilled to attend either campus, etc”

That way everything’s in one email and you don’t have to worry ab being a pest and they don’t have to chase you down for the other essay

Hi. I was wondering what are the chances of an II with a 501 MCAT and 3.75 gpa. Strong ties to the area and mission. Haven’t heard anything. Should I send an update letter? This is my number 1 school. Any advice is so greatly appreciated. I know it’s an uphill battle with my score.

nobody knows except the adcoms at temple. just well wait for a while until you hear something.

Temple does not screen for secondaries, and if you submit a secondary, then you will be considered. However, note that you are significantly below the average MCAT score, and this may still be taken into consideration before and after the interview.

In the same boat and wondering the same... I'm afraid my Casper is going to be the final nail in my coffin (1st Q, but 8/9 on preview, make it make sense). stay strong 🫂
