thank you! U read my mind. It's people like this who really annoy me - they try to undermine the hard work that goes into taking these exams. 😡

In 2004 a 21 academic average was in the 94th percentile. This means that less than 6% of candidates scored 21 or higher.

The median candidate GPA was in the 3.1 - 3.5 range. About 33% of the candidates had a GPA in the 3.6 - 4.0 range.

So I would say pretty much by definition a 21 academic average is not easy to achieve. Maybe your cousin is very smart, or maybe he/she studied a lot during school, and learned the material then.

That is full of ****. My sister had a 1490 sat without studying and 3.7 gpa. She took one whole month off to study for the DAT and scored a 21. The DAT isnt hard, but you cant just take it cold and get a 21. So, dont post stuff about so and so not studying, while getting a 21 and saying the DAT is so easy. For the people who took the exam, all worked hard for our scores and I certainly did stay up all night studying at times, 4 to 5 hours a day for 2 months at least to get a 22 AA.

I have taken both the MCAT and the DAT. The two tests are a little different but overall the DAT is easier and less grueling. MCAT exam is over 8 hours with all the breaks, it has a physics section and the verbal is way harder. Also, instead of having every question being free standing most of the MCAT questions are associated with a passage.

When I took the MCAT I studied for a good 3-4 months and got a 29 and for the DAT I studied for a month. Regardless, the DAT is also a challenging exam but definitely not as crazy as the f***** MCAT.

i had a class with my cousin once in physics we ended up with 4.0, but his lowest test score was 103 out of 100. we took maybe 7 or 8 tests in physics. he told me the hardest part in dat was the reading part, maybe because his english is not his first language.
btw my other cousin had 17 in dat, but i don't know what his mcat score was.

Some people are really "that smart" however, it has been my experiance that those who claim to "not study" study like hell.

I would mention that anyone who would take an exam like the DAT or MCAT without studying is NOT "that smart"

The word "easy" is a relative term. I think the MCAT is definitely harder due to the fact that it is longer and is more taxing physically and mentally. However, dont think for a second that the DAT is a walk in the park. It IS hard. It's just that the MCAT is harder. It's like the debate on which dental school is "easy" to get into. No dental school is "easy" to get into. It's just some are easier than others. 🙂

I agree with you. I took both also. I know, I'm nuts, right??? 🙂

i know its a waste of money. he doesn't want to be a dentist nor a doctor. he wants to be a pharmacist. he just wants to see how he does i guess.

good to hear that... I guess he lied to you about his DAT score. ^^

Who in his right mind will pay 165 bucks to take the DAT and not apply to dental school. It is like buying a girl a 7000 dollar ring and not proposing to her. I find this story kind of odd, however you MAY be telling the truth. Only God and you will know.

okay so it wasn't the same cousin? it is meaningless.

i could see making a 21 AA without studying for the DAT, even without great science background if you were able to rock the RC and QR.

but like i siad, your post is meaningless, flamebait, etc. etc. etc.

You can't compare the DAT and the MCAT they are completely different. For the sciences in both exams, the DAT tests on what material you know, the MCAT tests on applying the material you know. But regarding the OP about getting a 21 without studying for the DAT, its definitely possible, at least for the sciences. I highly doubt anyone can take the DAT and break a 20 on the PAT the first time they see the test. The first time I took a practice test I got a 13 on the PAT and after 3 months of practice I got a 22 on the real thing. I've also taken the MCAT, where the first time I took a practice test, I got a 21 and a 35 on the real thing. Eitherway, both tests require time, studying, practice, and preparation.
