#23 on the WSJ List

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
that list is crap.

Chiropractor #11 best job?

I have 2 friends that graduated chiropractic school in the last 2 years. 1 is starting nursing school in the fall and the other is still looking for a job...

Yeah I agree that one was lame

These lists are crap. In almost all instances they are fluff pieces put together by bloggers relying upon overly optimistic projections from some labor department survey. The same jobs are reposted constantly in different orders.

If anyone makes a life decision based on this, then that person should defiantly see a #37.

Well according to this list I am going backwards in terms of "best jobs".

P.S.

Most of the jobs listed above Podiatry have high unemployment rates, just saying.

#6 Dental Hygenist, my sister is one, her and all her classmates are only getting temp work
11. Chiropracter, enough said
#14 University Professor, extremely cut throat and hard to get a tenured track job. At out community college they are cutting back all the part time prof hours so Obama care would not kick in.
#25 Historian, now that one they just pulled out of their ass.
Overall this is a sham list that is shameful the WSJ would post this.

Paralegal Assistant (is that below a paralegal or just a paralegal??) > surgeon...I should have consulted this list before I decided to stay in school for 8 years and go a few hundred thousand in debt.

Sorry but this list is complete BS! Pretty much everything Rushrhee said.

No way Dental Hygienist and Chiropractor should be anywhere in that list. And for the Occupational and Physical Therapist is confusing as well. Most PTs and OTs go to school for 3yrs and they NEVER make over $95K a year and it is really a boring profession from the people I have spoken to that are in that. I know doctors that say that the ONLY profession in a medical type field that they would tell me not to go down that track is PT, they just say they don't know a PT specialist that actually loves their job...and their pay.
Even Optometrist is in the same boat as podiatry b/c their is such a small amt of practices that actually practice that.
And a university professor is a good job...after you get tenured. Until then you don't have much of any stability to keep your job and most of them need a second job if they only teach one or two classes per week.
I really don't think they put much of an emphasis on $$$$ for this list. Some of these jobs high on the list are mostly low paying jobs that are fun, but in today's era you can't just have a fun job with a $60K job. Just my opinion

Actually most PTs and OTs love their jobs. Most physicians only know of PTs in the inpatient setting, which the role can be pretty redundant. Don't know who you know in the field but most PTs do some pretty interactive treatments with patients. The pay is crap, however.
