Hey all, just got my score today, I got a 233/97. Just asking to get a rough idea of where i stand. I am interested in neuro (although psych & Internal med are also on the differential).

1. Is this score a good score for the residencies i mentioned (esp Neuro)?
2. Is it good enough to get into top programs in the residencies i mentioned
3. Should i take step 2 earlier to boost my score or might that hurt me?
4. Any other advice appreciated

*i am not a gunner, nor an underachiever, am just a bit unaware of where this score places me

will appreciate yr help
thx

you're fine for the residencies you listed. whether or not you match at a top program is going to depend on a lot of other factors, but you're step1 score wont hold you back.

If by Neuro you mean neurosurgery, that's probably a good enough screening score for "a" neurosurgery program (e.g. maybe not Harvard). But with Neurosurgery, you really need mad connections and publications.. from what I'm told.

If you meant neurology, then that is a great score for a University-based IM program with neurology fellowships.

Nice job!

Just to make it clear, Neurology is not a subspecialty of IM. Neurology residents do a year of IM (or a transitional year) before their neurology training (which is 3 years).

The specialties you listed is not ultra-competitive. There's actually a push to get more people into neurology so you should be good. Congrats on an excellent score
