I'm in the same boat.

23 AA, 22 TS, 20 PAT But with 3.15 GPA, 3.05 sGPA hahahaha

i think ppl would say private schools are the only hope

I think you'd definitely be able to get interviews, but at many schools, once you've got an interview, your stats don't matter quite as much - so... if you've got the interpersonal skills of a brick wall, someone with lower stats may easily be picked over you.

23AA is really good...
i have something lower than you, but got a higher gpa...
22AA, 3.3gpa (had lots of ecs, and a publication), 0 interview this cycle.

Any idea why? Did you have a bad PS or something?

I had about the same scores and similar looking EC's - and I think your issue was the same as mine, we applied late. The key to applying late is to just apply like everywhere - and that's how I got 4 interviews out of the 23 schools I applied to.

perhaps...

however, i think dental school admission has just gotten really competitive, and the bar has been raised both DAT-wise and gpa-wise...

pretty sure its just because you applied late

3.3 gpa and 22AA is decent enough to get into most schools i think
assuming u apply june, july

ppl are getting in with 18-20 AA by applying reeeallly early

make it happen!

how the heck did a 3.3 GPA and 22AA not get a single interview? You didn't apply to just a few schools, you applied alot.... This is REALLY weird. Were you a late applicant?

Seriously, if you had zero interviews, most of us don't stand a chance

I find that hard to believe.....

So here is what I do know:

If you think about it from an admissions committee perspective, they need to put together a 'full class'. Now, this will NEVER consist of all students with 4.0 GPAs and 25+ DATs. They want a diverse class. If they selected only students like that, then they'd have an over competitive class that will have conflicts with each other.

That being said, most dental schools will select students with higher test scores and lower GPAs because that shows them that, 'OK, they understand the material according to the test, but don't have a highest GPA.' When it comes to ranking students in the class, they would see that person as a 'middle of the road' student that will succeed and graduate, be a competent dentist, but not necessarily be the competitive one at the top.

The more people I meet from my incoming class, the more I understand how they select people...

But as many of the posts above state, applying early is the best thing you can do...
