I've heard that some 24 hour retail pharmacies offer a 7 nights on/7 nights off rotation to pharmacists willing to work the overnight shift, and also with a pay differential. This type of schedule appeals to me both because I'm a night person and also because I am a very outdoorsy/adventure type person who loves to travel. This type of position would really give me flexibility to do that. Do you know which specific retail chains offer a schedule like this, so I can try to touch base with some recruiters this next year? Thanks!

Walgreens does the 7-off / 7-on. I'm not sure about an actual differential, but you get paid 80 hrs for working 77.

CVS does this. If you are seriously interested in this, you will be able to write your own ticket wherever you want to go- it is very difficult for the chains to find enough night pharmacists. You would also be able to pick up hours on your week off if you so desired. I'm sure with the differential, and a bit of OT you would easily be over 100K a year.

Walgreens offers the 7-on / 7-off. There are two graveyard pharmacists in my store and they work 10 hrs(10pm-8am) for 7 days and off for next 7 days. So they get paid 80 hrs for working 70 hrs. I am not sure other areas of country so I guess graveyards work 77 hrs in some places.

Where do you live? We don't have CVS in N CA.

Many hospitals offer 7 on 7 off shifts as well. So you have the option of retail or hospital. I just started my rotations and was sure I would work in a retaillocation. Now I realize just how bad retail pharmacy sux and how in the hospital you actually use your clinical skills/knowledge you worked so hard to learn.

I just filled my 7 on 7 off graveyard position... work 70 hours get paid for 80... $6.50 per hour differential on week nights and $10 per hour differential on weekend nights.. shift is 9pm to 7am M-S. $48 per hour Base... and a sign on bonus.

It's decent for Dallas...where you can buy a McMansion for a decent price.
