Hi,
VR:6
BS:9
PS:12
WS: Q
Total: 27Q
GPA: Pretty High (Some thing like 3.97 UG, 3.73 Grad school and 3.98 Post-bacc)
ECs: I have a lot of engineering experience and 250 hrs of Hospital volunteering and other community volunteering.
And no, English is not my first language. I am wondering about the schools like Meharry, Howard, U of North Dakota and Duluth that have lower MCAT averages. Will I have a chance at these schools? I won't even bother applying to the top 30.
Thanks!

Duluth has a strong bias towards in-state residents. However, I know of a few people who got in there with scores very similar to yours. I'm not sure of the other schools.

If your 27 was more balanced, I would say it isn't that bad, with the 6 VR though it could prove to be difficult.

Good luck and don't let the opinions of people on SDN get you down. I was told to retake my MCAT, but didn't and will be starting orientation tomorrow.

I just called Duluth and they were actually saying that it is very common for non-native speakers to get poor scores in VR and they are ok with it. But I understand what you are saying. I am somehow tempted to buck the trend and apply anyways. A higher score in a retake will improve my chances of getting in in-state but it may be hard to improve VR in a month.

Yeah, VR would be tough to improve in just a month. Are you OOS for Duluth?

I am in state for Duluth. On the other hand VR can not get any lower than 6 so, what do I have to lose😉

You could lose points on PS or BS. The unfortunate part of retaking is that no section of the test stays static.

So, are you gonna' just apply this year?

Yeah, I think so. I don't feel I can make the improvement I want in less than 4 weeks, and even if I did the score would be in late. I'm going with my 26Q and will retake in April or May next year if I have to.

Well, I am sending out all the lower tier school secondaries today and tomorrow with the existing scores. Then I will go away from SDN for a while and retake in Sept and then send out the secondaries for the upper tier ones. I think this is the best I can do.
