Anyone know how hard it is to do a second residency from a funding standpoint... I've heard it can be a problem, however on the otherhand I've heard of several people who have done 2 or 3 residencies....Any insight would be appreciated..THanks

2nd and 3rd residencies are funded the same way that fellowships are. 50% of DME (that's salary and benefit support) and 100% of IME (everything else it costs to train a resident at the institutional level) and many programs supplement the DME portion as it is. So is it possible to do a 2nd residency? Sure, if you're a good/great applicant and you have a compelling reason for why you want to do X after you already did Y, then there's nothing but potential institutional bias holding you back.

If, OTOH, you're a borderline applicant who scrambled into and completed a malignant rural FM program and now want to apply to Ophtho b/c that's what you really wanted to do in the first place, you're not likely to have much luck.
