Hello,

I understand that the # of years that medicare will fund a resident is based on the speciality they initially match in. During residency, if a resident is suspended or takes a leave of absence during the year, does this time away from training count against the IRP and funding period?

From a brief online search, I am under the impression that this time away from the hospital does NOT count against that time, but I am not too sure at this point.

Thanks!
