I was wondering if there are any differences between these two editions? Someone is offering the 2nd editions to me for real cheap, but I don't know if I should get the 3rds instead. Thanks

I have the 2nd Ed. I've never looked at the 3rd, but I can't imagine that there would be much difference. I definitely don't think a new set is worth the ridiculous retail amount. It's not that useful a series.

I would look at platinum vignettes before UCV's. Although UCV case numbers greatly outnumber platinum's, and there seems to be a UCV for every subject, the platinum series is much, much better. They are expensive though, so try to check them out from your library.

Would you elaborate on the differences please. I have a limited budget, and time.

The only difference between editions is the color picture atlas. I hardly use it and don't think it's worth the extra retail. If you can get it on the cheap (Ebay or Half.com) then go for it. Otherwise, second edition is fine.
