Hello everyone! Congratulations on thinking about pursuing the greatest and most fulfilling profession out there! My name is Justin and I am a 2nd year at Azusa Pacific University's DPT program.

I never used SDN before, but a classmate of mine referred me to this place. I constantly see students being interviewed at our school, and I always wanted to give them advise on how to interview and how to prepare for DPT school, etc. Which is why I decided to come here! My hopes is to be able to make your process just a little bit easier and clearer - I know much I lacked in this application process I was when I was in your shoes.

A little bit about me: After going through nearly half of the program, we are getting ready to be sent off into our clinical rotations. We have gone through Anatomy, modalities, ortho, neuroanatomy, neuro rehab, just to name a few.

Hey! I've watched a few of your DPT vlogs before! Great content!
Azusa Pacific is my top school of choice and your videos provide tremendous information of what I should expect if I was to attend there.
Do you know when they will being sending out interviews for the next class coming in Jan 2019?

DUDE! thats awesome! I am so glad you were able to gain insight on what life could be like. Of course DPT school's academic rigor is intense no doubt, but I wanted to also portray that it's also fun too! APU is like... a hidden treasure! A lot of people dont know about it, but once they enroll and find out what the program is like, no one wants to look anywhere else!

I believe they started already. Since its rolling admission, the earlier you apply the better! I could go talk to admissions and see what they are looking for and what they weigh more heavier as far as GPA, GRE, etc.. Would that interest you?

Hey Justin! I've watched a few of your videos before too! 🙂 APU is one of my top choices, but I won't be applying until this summer in late July/early August. I know admissions are rolling, do you think that would be too late for the class of Jan 2019?

Do you also happen to know how APU calculates retakes for GPA? I've retaken a few of my pre-requisite courses but weren't sure if they were one of the schools that takes the highest grade into consideration or averages it out. Thanks for taking out the time to do this!

Hey Justin! Thanks so much for this post! I interviewed last month and I am just waiting to hear back! The wait has been painful since APU is my top choice! I'm excited to watch this thread for updates!

I personally wouldn't want you to go out of your way to do that but others might find it helpful on here, haha.
I submitted my application back in mid-December already and received a call a month later saying that APU was in the process of fixating their new class that started in Jan 2018 and they would begin looking at applicants for the class starting Jan 2019 shortly after that. The program I got accepted and will be attending so far begins in mid-May and the only school that would alter my decision would be an acceptance to APU!

I asked them about this too regarding the retake on my physics and the guy I spoke with said they look at the highest grade.

I got an email today saying that I was wait listed. I'm bummed but I can only hope for the best!

I've seen a couple student interview already that would start Jan 2019. These guys are really early, but like rolling admission, the earlier the better. I know a couple students that got a call back literally 3 days before orientation - which I believe is common (hearing from the students ahead of us).

I actually do not know how they calculate retakes for GPA, but from my understanding, it is the average score? I could double check.

For others reading this thread.. If you have specific questions about APU, please reply to this with your questions. Ill gather them up and ask in one whole go!

That's awesome! I am excited for you! I think they take about a month or so to get back from you. You should get a call. And it's my pleasure! Feel free to share what you learned to others around you
