I'm finishing up first year and have an opportunity to buy some used flashcards for path, pharm, and micro... BRS, Rubin, a few others. Any faves, or ones to avoid?

I really like Lippencott's micro flash cards. they are pretty organized, have a card for each organism with all the pertinent info and clinical findings and the cards are in color.

+1.

My school recommends we get pharmcards too and I like them so far.

Sweet baby Jesus, + infinity to the Lippincott's Microcards. They're excellent!

CMMRS was great for bacteria, but kinda fell flat when it came to viruses. The microcards were amazing for that.

If you can get pharmcards for you iPhone/Android, I'd recommend that over the physical cards. The phone versions come with extra features (ex. stand-alone questions, etc) and you don't have to worry about carrying a bulky set of cards around with you.

I just searched the App Store and couldn't find an app for pharmcards. Tried searching pharm cards too.

I have the Rubin's path cards and I don't find them very high-yield. I absolutely love the Lange pharm cards and would highly recommend them for 2nd year.

I know its probably not the answer your looking for, but as a second year I've found making my own flashcards to be the most helpful. It might just be my learning style but if I look at some pre made flaschcard I feel like I can never remember anything once I put the flashcards away.

I also roll my own.

I made my own too. 90% of pre made flash cards are low yield.Even The best ones like micro are low yields when you really get down to it.

I just write notes on the premade note cards. Best of both worlds.

Yeah, if you know what to pull out then some are great. Like the micro ones. I think the real best of both worlds is making cards out of FA. Which a few have done. Super high yield.
