GPA: Your GPA is far-below competitive for most schools. However, your DAT adds credibility to your ability to handle the academic rigors of dental school, providing you a slightly better opportunity for an interview. Your science GPA is concerning.
DAT: Your AA and TS are around the 60th percentile - competitive for some schools, but not great. The fact that you performed in the ~35th percentile for your Gchem and ~48th percentile in Ochem is worrisome, given that this was your opportunity to provide positive influence on your sGPA.
School Selection: You should apply broad and have a specific school list. You mentioned NYU, which has an average GPA of ~3.50 and sGPA of ~3.40. Their DAT averages are 21 AA and 21 TS (approx. 83rd percentile).
The application process is holistic: As an applicant who falls below the averages in terms of GPA & DAT, you will need to use the rest of the application (personal statement, supplementals, activities, etc) to influence the adcomms into inviting you for an interview, and then you'd have to perform well during your interviews.
Make sure to get those Letters of Rec. in ASAP and ensure the rest of your application is stellar. That will be the determinant of whether you get accepted or not.
