Hello everyone and thanks for looking. Please give me your thoughts on my chances at various DO schools. I would like to attend a well-established school that will have good rotations, and also hopefully has a lower cost of attendance.
I’m starting paramedic school (58 units worth) in the Fall, hopefully this can help boost my cGPA into better territory. I also plan on retaking one or two other core science classes that I got C- in. (1st quarter of orgo and 1st quarter of biochem) However, I’d like to retake as few classes as possible.
Anyways, give me your thoughts. My stats are below
cGPA: 3.16
sGPA: 3.14
MCAT (PS/VR/BS): 11/10/11 = 32
-CA resident, attended higher ranked UC
-Stating paramedic school in Fall (58 units)
-Strong upward trend, 3.65 cGPA, 3.56 sGPA in my last 80 units, including A’s in:
Gross Human Anatomy
Several Physio classes
Biochem II
Cell Bio
ECs:
-2 Years as an EMT ~3000 hrs
-4 Months as a cardiology tech ~600 hours
-200 hrs clinical volunteering (ED and Cardiopulmonary rehab)
-Athletic trainer during undergrad for 6 months
-50 hours or so of various non-clinical community service over the years
I know for my sub-par GPA, this might be a little demanding, but following are important to me:
-Lower cost of attendance / tuition
-School with quality rotations and good reputation
-Would also prefer a place that's not too humid if possible.
Also, I am taking a good hard look at the following schools:
PCOM-PA
DMU
KCUMB (Assuming I can raise my GPA above that 3.25 cutoff)
Touro CA
Western CA
CCOM
ATSU-KCOM
NSUCOM
OSUCOM
RowanSOM
AZCOM
Please give me your thoughts on my chances at the above schools and perhaps some of the other ones not on the above list, thanks!
