I am deciding whether I should apply to just DO schools(broadly for sure) or apply to both MD and DO
I am very concerned about my low gpa (especially for MD schools) that show no up trend ( I pretty much got 3.2 all four years (one F which i retook and got a C and other two C's)
EC's are:
strong letter from PI/boss/professor ( I took a class with the PI and also worked for her for two years)
volunteer :cardiothoracic research lab ~50hrs
Post-anesthesia care unit ~50 hrs
out patient center ~30 hrs
Shadowing : MD ~350 hrs (for a year) -I am getting a letter from him too
DO ~ aiming for 40 hrs (still shadowing weekly)
community service: health fair participation ~50 hrs
member of a club in college
committee member for one health fair for one quarter
Research: two papaers have been published (second author)
plus I have been working as a lab tech for three years after college graduation but I have to admit I havent really done anything other than shadowing the doctors starting last year ( HAVE NT BEEN ACTIVE FOR TWO YEARS AFTER GRADUATION)
I am not sure if I am good for low tier MD schools I dont mind DO and thats why
