I have had 0 interviews. My secondaries were in by mid October, which I guess wasn't super ideal.

Based off my research on this forum, it seems I should have applied to DO as well due to my low GPA. I was hoping to get some input from you guys so I don't make the same mistakes I made this cycle. Maybe a few suggestions for schools based on my stats.

My approach for the next cycle is to submit my applications immediately and apply to DO schools as well. Does that sound like an adequate approach?

Thanks for your time!

I'd say apply DO definitely, but apply to postbacc programs as well if your only problem is the gpa. The problem with lower gpa is that their is really nothing that can be done for it besides enrolling in a postbacc or masters program to improve it. Was their any hardship you went through that you could explain the gpa with?

No hardships, just really stupid. In regards to post bac I have taken a few classes, but they didn't really make a dent in my GPA (I did do well though).

I would be perfectly happy with DO, I just wanted to gauge my current situation. I also don't want to waste money, so I wasn't sure if I should bother applying MD or how many DO schools would be a safe amount. I really don't want to postpone medical school another year.

What is your BCPM GPA? What improvements have you made in your application since you last applied?

Are you a FL resident? If not, you wasted your money by applying to these FL schools. You should be fine for any DO schools. If you really want MD, do a SMP and you will be good to go for MD.

3.3 BCPM GPA. No real improvements. I think my main issue with this cycles application was getting my secondaries in by October.

If you have a downward grade trend, that could sink your chances. A steep upward sustained grade trend, OTOH, could make all the difference in level of MD consideration. For DO, if you have any prerequisites below a C+, you might take advantage of their grade forgiveness policy by retaking.

Ya I'm a Fl resident. I don't want to waste any more time trying to raise my GPA, so I guess DO it is.

It's kind of strange that you got rejected from FIU and did not hear from FSU. I know you GPA is low, but I think your MCAT score kind of make up for your low GPA for these two schools. You will be a shoo-in for DO though....

100% concur. The GPA is not competitive for MD schools. You're fine for any DO program, including mine.

I was hoping to get some feedback on the DO schools that I plan on applying to.

The list:
PCOM
ATSU-KCOM
Kcumb
RowanSOM
TCOM
LMU DCOM
DMU
COMP/Western
OSUCOM
NOVA

Thanks!
