Hey guys, so I just graduated from a top California public school with a biochemistry degree (UCLA, Berkeley, etc, take your pick), with a cGPA of 3.261 and a sGPA of 3.12. I took the MCAT last Sept and I got a 36R with 13V, 13P, 10B. I did fine my freshman year in terms of GPA, but it took a dip in sophomore and junior year, but I was able to maintain a 3.7 cGPA for my senior year.

I have over 4 years of both research and volunteering at stanford and ucla, with around 2 years of shadowing. I've been apart of quite a few non-medicine related things, such as helping start up a nonprofit, joining an entrepreneurial club, president of an org that raises awareness for 3rd world issues, and a couple others.

I'm set to attend Georgetown's SMP this coming fall, and I'm hoping that I can do well enough in it that will allow me to aim for schools like NYU (my dream school), and if not NYU, then some other school that hovers around the mid-tier range.

I'm applying for this upcoming cycle, and should have my AMCAS done within the next 2 weeks or so...

with that, hit me!

and on another note, I submitted my deposit for GT's SMP, but I still have a couple of concerns about it that relates to my situation, so if anybody's willing to give me advice about it, I'm more than willing to listen.

edit: also, I plan on applying to 30+ schools

With a strong performance in the SMP I can't imagine you won't have your pick of a lot of good schools.

That's definitely uplifting, so thanks for that 🙂, but I was hoping more for chances based off of what I have now, not how I hope to perform this upcoming year.

A lot of schools(even though they don't say it) but are a little bit(just a little) favor students from top universities.

If you can ace Gtown's program, i think you have very good shot with many mid to even up-mid schools.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of school do you think I might be able to get when I finish applying to this cycle? With this cycle I won't have completed GT SMP grades, but I will have the fact that I'm going there on my app.

You can mention you are attending it and submit first semesters grades to schools with an update letter after the fall ends.
