3.3 cGPA 3.0sciGPA 37 expected mcat

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Right now I have a 3.3 GPA but I still have some classes to finish before I apply for medical school so it might go up to a 3.4 or 3.5 but I am not sure yet.
I have not taken the mcat but I test very well and expect a 37 or above.
I know my GPA is not great but I have three minors in Spanish, chemistry and psychology. I was wondering if these could change my chances.
I have also volunteered at hospitals for about three years and also I have started a medlife (medical clinic) club on my campus.
I have done about a year of research, three months were with a member of the admissions board at our medical school.
I just wanted to know if you thought that I should go ahead and apply for the 2013 cycle or retake some classes that I got c's in and apply for the next cycle.
I will only be 19 at the time I apply and I just wanted to know if this could change my chances becuase some people say that medical schools are not looking for younger applicants.
Thanks for your time.
I think you will be far better off with an additional year of GPA repair, where you retake significant classes with low grades as well as add upper-level Bio classes to prove your capability in med-school equivalent classes (and raise your BCPM GPA, too). Adcomms will not discriminate based on age, but they will be looking for evidence of maturity regardless of age. This means taking responsibility for fixing a sub par GPA, showing your humanistic side by volunteering for medical and nonmedical organizations, demonstrating leadership, showing capability for teamwork, and making good choices in the social arena. You've done some of this, so now plan to strengthen those areas more and beef up the areas where you are lacking.

Extra majors and minors will have no impact on adcomm decision-making.

STONGLY agree with this excellent advice. Your numbers right now are two low for MD schools, but OK for DO. However, it's very easy to say you're going to get an MCAT 37, but harder to do. Therefore, the only thing I'd add to the below is show some leadership/initiative skills in your volunteering, and it can never hurt to have more patient contact experience. Going on an overseas medical mission is a shining example.
