3.35cGPA - Does this count as upward trend?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hmmm. I was hoping that your second junior semester would have been a match for your senior year grades, but instead you took a bit of a dip. You have the option of applying anyway, hoping for particularly strong fall semester grades in your postbac to help sway adcomms positively, or waiting until next year when your recent grades are on more solid gound.

How old is your lovely MCAT score?

Would you characterize your ECs as terrific, average, or subpar?

Yea, I really would not count it as a upward trend, since it went down in your junior year

I'd say your ECs are above average if some of the timeframes of the nonmedical volunteering, leadership, and teaching are more than a year.

Do you have a lenient state school?
Would the expense of a potentially fruitless application cycle have a huge negative impact on your finances?
Are you ambitious for a more-selective school, or would your heart be happy to get in anywhere?
What are your plans for the next year if you do or don't apply this season?
If you were to apply, could you live the next year as if you knew you'd need another application cycle so you'd have plenty to report when asked, "How have you improved your application since you last applied?"

Are you already accepted to the SMP?

Considering your responses above, and apparent excellent potential, I think that it would be reasonable to go ahead and apply this season. It's not impossible that high fall grades will trigger an acceptance (we've seen it happen), but it's best to be prepared for the fact that many med schools will want to see the results of a full year of SMP before considering you.

Also apply to any other school that has an affiliated SMP.
