Tbh, I didn't study, period, for undergrad (Boston College). Thus the low GPA.
Plus, I'm a very science/math-oriented person and extremely weak on literature/humanities/social science subjects, so I did a lot better at Harvard Extension & Tufts MBS.
Took a gap year abroad to be with my family (and did some non-clinical community service & tutoring).
Came back and took 5 classes at Harvard Extension and applied, 3 interviews (SLU, Tulane, Albany), 1 rejection & 2 waitlists, no acceptances.
Took another gap year abroad and taught at a school, got married, went to Tufts MBS and am applying again this cycle.
I was born in Connecticut but moved around a lot, so I grew up in CT, Korea, Michigan, and have been living in MA recently (7yrs, including academic years), meaning no legal state residency (no IS advantage anywhere).
Don't have research experience (my advisor said research is not that important), but lots of clinical & non-clinical community service and non-academic activities, and will start scribing at a hospital next month (so more clinical experience).
I've already submitted my application to:
Albert Einstein
BU
Brown
Drexel
Eastern Virginia
Emory
Dartmouth
George Washington
Georgetown
Loyola
NYMC
Penn State
Quinnipiac
Rosalind Franklin
Rush
Temple
Thomas Jefferson
Tufts
Tulane
UCONN
U of Rochester
U of Washington
Wake Forest
I'm not sure with my VERY LOW undergrad GPA and pretty good postbac/MS GPA, which schools are in my range, and all my advisor said was Tufts MBS GPA will count a lot more and I should add some "safety schools". But is there really any "safety schools" for med schools :/
And am also considering UMASS for a long shot cuz I really want to stay in Mass/New England!
What do you think about my list? and my chances?
Any advice would be appreciated!
