Hello everyone!
I am debating between applying to a few DO schools (10-12 of them) now, or waiting until I am a more competitive applicant and can actually apply early next cycle to ~20 of them.
Cumulative GPA- 3.39
Science GPA-3.22
MCAT (taken last month)- 506 (127/125/126/128)
Lots of ECS/volunteer/clinical experience:
-200+ hours volunteering at a student run clinic
-2 quarters of tutoring for chemistry/genetics
-100 hours of volunteering in the emergency room
-500 hours of clinical psychology research concerning specific neurodevelopment disorders
-100 hours working with children with PTSD from traumatic households
Leadership/work experience:
-Worked as a resident advisor for one year
-Held various leadership positions in pre medical organization
-Worked as a proctor/student assistant for the student disability center at my university
There are a few other small ECS, but I will withhold mentioning them to keep anonymity.
If I wait until next year, I feel that I can bring up my GPA to maybe a 3.45/3.35 or best case scenario 3.5/3.4 and I could expand on my clinical experiences during my gap year.
But I also feel like I might have a shot this cycle. I realize it is a little late so that is why I am hesitant, but would it look bad if I took the hail mary and applied to a few schools, didn't get in, and applied again next cycle as a re-applicant?
Any advice/criticisms/schools I may have a chance at would be GREATLY appreciated!
