3.4/518, URM

Because of your URM status I think you have a good shot at Texas schools. Try to get another clinical experience

Best chances in Texas. Don't know much else about Texas applicants. You have a very compelling story and a good reason for those low grades - plus four full semesters of 4.0. Congratulations. You don't need a DIY postbacc; the four semesters of 4.0 are evidence enough that you can handle medical school academically. The 518 MCAT is further proof of that. As an URM with a strong upward trend and compelling life story, I'd suggest applying to your Texas schools, the HBCUs, and any top-20 school that interests you. Good luck.

If you write about your homelessness in a compelling way, I’m sure you would get interviews at every school in the nation

I will look into that, thank you for the suggestion.

I'm not an adcom, but I think your story sounds really compelling and it doesn't really seem to me like you need a post-bacc with that upward trend + MCAT. I think you have a good shot at the top TX schools and Baylor. Personally, as a TX applicant this cycle, I wasted a lot of time and money applying to mid-tier OOS schools, so you might consider not applying to low-yield schools like Tulane and Georgetown.

Thank you so much for the insight! I figured that was probably the case with a lot of Tx applicants after browsing some threads on here.

Thank you so much for the reassurance. I will probably keep my school list conservative though outside of the 3 T20 listed. At this point I’m just aiming for any medical school that will accept me in the US haha

@aspiringmed94: Four semesters of 4.0 are enough to serve as proof that anyone's reinvented themselves; your URMness and compelling story make your application yet stronger. I can't guarantee anything - but if you are willing to go DO you've got a superb shot at interviews. I don't think you need DO schools on your list unless you want to have them there though. You're quite a strong applicant as it is; I'd say you're competitive at top-20 schools!
