Hey guys, I am pretty depressed right now, just got my MCAT scores back. I was consistently averaging above a 36 but ended up with a 32 on the actual. My cGPA is 3.47 and sGPA is a 3.24. I really want to go to an MD program but will settle with a DO if I have to.

I have great ECs ... not worried about those.

What should I do? Should I even apply this cycle? Should I retake the MCAT? What are my chances?

When you say you are continuously averaging above 36, do u mean by AAMC practice standard or other prep courses such as Kaplan or PR? If the latter then I would say it is very common that you score 32 on the actual test. Anyhow, I would strongly argue against you taking another MCAT and applying this year, because even if you get a 36 your chances are still very small.
Your GPA is def in the lower end, and I don't know if any MD would accept 3.2 sGPA because it reflects how you would do in med school. Consider grade replacement program or go get a master in something and do well.

You are fine for DO

AAMC 7-11 average was a 36.5. I am prepared financially to apply to 50 schools. Should I not even apply this cycle you think even with that many schools?

50 schools are unrealistic. I would say max should be 35. Due to your low GPA, i would say you should wait another cycle, but that just my opinion. During your year of waiting, you can take classes to boost up and study mcat again to really nail it. late application is never good, i know people with 34-36 who cannot get in cuz they apply late...

but then again, i know this girl with 3.6 GPA and 32 mcat at first, retook and got a 38 (13 in VR) and got accepted into Columbia. This is a fairytale and only serves to show the extremes lol

Yeah I bet 50 will be too much work. But how about the school that have their 10-90 percentile gpa range of 3.0-3.8 and mcat range of 25-33? I really don't care where I go to school!

There are a few school like that. But you also have to look at their OOS and racial acceptance rate. alot of schools, like UMDNJ, are kind of in that catergory but their OOS rate is extremely low. Invest in MSAR.

Also, let me warn you about reapplying. You need to show some SERIOUS improvement before you apply again. So it's def not a good idea to "test waters". If you apply, go in with a serious arsenal and finish strong.

I think I will apply and go hard! Make sure my app stands out!
