3.5 gpa 25 Mcat. Need advice!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I wouldn't sell yourself short. Your MCAT isn't all that bad for DO schools, in fact it is quite average for matriculating students. Your pursuit of an MPH degree will definitely look quite favorable as well as your strong GPA. I would fix the grades you have to and go ahead and apply.

Thanks for the advice! Any schools I should particularly focus on that may favor ECs/GPA over the MCAT? I was thinking both LECOMs, PCOM, NOVA, AZCOM, and UNE since I'm from the area. Any others?

i would definately consider the LECOMs, especially if you like the PBL style curriculum. i had similar stats, slightly higher mcat (3.6, 27) and received acceptances to both campuses. i would say you have a solid chance there...as always- apply early

LECOM's are good for you, PCOM would be a good fit if you're in their region, NOVA's MCAT average is a 27, can't speak to the other 2, but I understand that UNE is regionally biased as well.

Ok thanks both LECOMs will definitely be at the top of my list; I was also quite impressed with their recent match lists and especially their lower cost.

I was lastly considering KCOM and ATSU-SOMA as I just read recently that they look at applicants ability to help the underserved, which I believe is something I have done extensively and want to be involved with as a physician. Any idea if I would be competitive at these schools? Is there any regional bias at these schools that I should be aware of?

No regional bias that I'm aware of at these two. Underserved volunteer work will take you far at a lot of schools, it's a huge admissions factor at NOVA and even as a student there you're required to conduct 60 hours of volunteer work per year.
