Just want to know how to maximize my time next semester for the best chance to getting into med school

3.51 gGPA with 501 vs 3.47gGPA with a possibility of 505-510?

First option, I wouldn't be retaking my MCAT but instead a rigourous course in my Masters program; whereas, the second option I would be retaking the MCAT but not take the Masters course.

The MCAT score is lethal for MD schools but OK for DO (except AZCOM and CCOM)

The fastest path for you to become a doctor will be to retake all F/D/C science coursework and apply broadly to DO schools.

IF you're boning for the MD degree, there are MD schools that reward reinvention. You'll need to ace either a post-bac (which can be DIY) or a SMP, ideally one given at a med school. Then also ace MCAT (513 or better, 33+ on the old scale).

Do not apply until you have the best possible app. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Med schools aren't going anywhere, and, in fact, by the time you apply, several more schools will have opened their doors.

Better MCAT score. There is no difference between a 3.47 and a 3.51. MCAT score is like the herp, it stays with you forever. But the GPA, that can be worked on

1. What is your undergraduate GPA

2. Is this master's program an SMP

3. There is no difference between a 3.47 and a 3.51.

4. A 501 isn't going to get you into medical school. That's like a 26 on the old scale - only the least desirable DO schools are within any sort of reach.

Not to override the OP, but what would someone do if they get a really solid score on the MCAT but have like a 3.4? Like, if you absolutely destroyed the MCAT (Like 515+), and as long as your pre-reqs were there and you kept sending good updates and what not, would you at least be able to get into a school?

We know that the MCAT can redeem a subpar GPA- but at what point does not even a 532 save you from your GPA?

I think a 515+ and a 3.4-3.5 is competitive at a decent amount of low-mid tier schools. I would say anything below a 3.0 is where you get into the mcat wont save you levels

Perfect. I love charts like this.

Well, I suppose that would be because of auto-screens. A lot of places do have a built-in screen after a certain GPA, if I recall correctly. Thanks!

Yes. Although i think you dont start hitting auto screen range until 2.7ish 2.8ish.
