Hello All,

I would love to get some feedback on my stats if anyone could spare a few minutes. I am pretty set on wanting to apply MD this cycle and am trying to find out if my school list is completely in the trees. My entire application is complete except for the schools.

3.59cGPA in Biomedical Engineering
3.42sGPA
Currently in a Masters of Engineering program with close association with my university's medical campus

MCAT Mar 2010; 20Q (10V-7P-3B) I was horribly sick during the bio section
MCAT Jan 2011; 26Q (7V-10P-9B)
MCAT Apr 2011; 27Q (8V-9P-10B)

Research:
600+ hours neurology interactive patient research
100+ hours orthopedic research with cadaveric dissection

Shadowing:
400+ hours physician shadowing (neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics)

Volunteering:
200+ hours neurology clinic volunteering
Grade school track and cross country head coach for 5+ years
Tutoring for grade school through college

Publications:
Three publications and one poster

Paid Job:
Ice hockey referee for 11 years

Besides being in [neighboring] Ohio, do you have any connections to the state of WV?
Since you have WVU on there, why not Marshall? (it has a little bit lower matriculant stats)
 
Hi,

The GPA is kinda on the low side, and you MCAT is below average. I think MD may be tough. You would need at least a 30 MCAT to be competitive.

While your ECs are nice enough that they might help some MD schools overlook your lower stats (hopefully, at least the two less selective MD schools in your state), it might be a good idea to add your in-state DO school to your application list as well.
