I got two D's in orgo/physics and a C in orgo, in one really bad year

If I retake them, and get A's (which is realistic for me) and get A's for the next 45 credits of my college career (including multiple science classes), my GPA would be ~3.6

I took my MCAT without studying and got a 29. I may retake it after retaking orgo/physics/taking physiology, and would expect somewhere between 30-33.

I'll have about a 1000 community volunteering hours in underserved communities, and will have about 100 hours of hospital volunteering, and a hundred or so hours of shadowing done by the time I graduate.

With my 3.6 GPA and 29 MCAT, what would my chances for MD be? I'm from NY by the way. What about DO?

With a 3.6 GPA but a 32 MCAT, how much greater would my odds be?

Thanks, good luck to all!

What would your final BCPM GPA be after the retakes, as AMCAS would calculate it?

Historically, All Applicants with a 3.6/29 had a 48% chance of acceptance. Odds rose to 66% with a 3.6/32.

As of right now, I'd say you're fine for any low-tier MD school or newest MD programs (like NYMC, Albany Rosy F), but might have poor luck with the SUNYs, or Hofstra

Fine for any DO program. You have 3 in NY state to pick from

What about DO?

Now fine for all above, plus all NY MD schools, except NYU. Fine for some private medium tiers if you have great ECs. Forget OOS public schools as they favor the home team.

i had a 3.6 and a 29 mcat and I got into my top choice school in December (the highest ranked school in my state). I got interviews at 2 other schools in my state, but I withdrew my applications after i got accepted to my top choice, so I'll never know if I would have had other interviews. With that said, I did have 1000 hours of volunteering in the icu, i was the coordinator/trainer for new volunteers in the icu, a job as a tech at the icu, lots of shadowing and a first author publication in a major journal. I feel like once you have around a 3.6 and a 30 mcat, your extracurriculars can help you outshine someone who might have had scores that were slightly higher. just my opinion though. good luck!
