Easy way to remember how many mg of anesthetic are in a standard 1.8ml carpule is that every 1% has 18mg in it.
For example, a 1% solution has 18mg, a 2% solution has 36mg, 3% has 54mg, etc, etc, etc.
The tricky thing is nowadays some manufacturers are putting less volume of anesthetic solution in the carpule, for example, Septocaine(Articaine) 4% with 1:100,000 epi anesthetic comes in carpules that contain 1.7ml, not 1.8ml so if it was 2 carpules of 4% Septocaine, you'd have only 136mg of anesthetic in 2 carpules as opposed to the 144mg of prilocaine in those same 2 carpules. The volume of the carpule is printed directly on it, so make sure to look.
