Hey guys. Texas resident here.
My sGPA is 3.7 and my mcat is 28 (10/8/10). I do have another MCAT with higher verbal (a 10) but the score was lower. I doubt that matters though.

I do have a DO letter of recommendation. I have around 50 hours of DO shadowing currently and 150 hours shadowing MD's. I have a 2 academic letters of rec and an MD letter of rec. Overall my activities include

-150 hours of MD shadowing (3 doctors)
-50 hours of DO shadowing (1 doctor)
- 100 hours of hospice
-200 hours of ER (hospital 1)
-100 of surgery room/accounting/marketing (hospital 2)
-50 hours of surgery room (hospital 3)
-one year job as after school math instructor
-Spent on week in Panama on medical humanitarian trip
-Summer research internship in Palo Alto (no pub)
-Semester long research at university (no pub)

I should be sending out AACOMAS on June 2nd. Is that too late? Quick off topic question, dont schools require different letters of rec sometimes? Isn't it better just to send to schools directly from interfolio instead of using the AACOMAS letters?

What school list would you recommend.

I have very similar stats to you, and I've been told by many on here that those stats are capable of getting us into any DO school in the country.

So basically pick where you would want to go. I have chosen around 15 DO schools. (I had to do some hard cutting... there are some great DO schools around the country)

You should be fine for DO schools if you apply to at least 15 in June. You would have a decent chance for Texas MD schools especially with 2 more Texas state schools opening for 2016.

Oh yeah, I'm definitely filling out the TMDSAS as well. That should go out in the next few days. Apparently, the UT Austin Dell Medical school application launches later in the summer. They'll take like 50 students from what I've heard. Doesn't look too good for me. I graduated from UT so it would be nice to go back.

Do you have any information on the second school? I would like to apply there.

I would apply to some of the private and new MD's as well. With no subsection under 8, I believe you have a chance at some of them.

What are some of these new and private MD's you are referring to? It could help me as well.

A more realistic list is:

Albany Medical College
Creighton University School of Medicine
Drexel University College of Medicine
Eastern Virginia Medical School
Loyola University
Medical College of Wisconsin
New York Medical College
Quinnipiac University
Rosalind Franklin
Rush
Saint Louis
Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson
Temple University
Tufts University
VCU
TCMC
Oakland
Western MI
Loma Linda
Any DO school.

Here is Goro from another thread to an applicant with a 29/3.9. I think many of the schools still make sense for you to apply to (Though somebody can correct me if they think otherwise) This applicant was a California resident

that pretty much mirrors my list. Albany though? Saint Louis?

He pretty much recommended a list for me without those 2 schools that is very similar to the one you posted.
