Hey everyone!

I will be applying to medical school this upcoming cycle and was trying to figure out what OOS schools I should be applying to. I'll definitely apply to all Florida schools. I'm also not sure if I should retake my MCAT.. It's a bit on the lower end and I've already taken it twice. I'm hoping my personal statement, resumé, letters of rec, and GPA can outweigh the low score. I also would not mind applying and going to any higher tier DO schools.

Here's some info:

Resident: Florida
GPA: 3.73
MCAT: 504 (127/124/124/129)
Ethnicity: White
Undergrad: Top 10 Public University
Clinic Experience:
-Volunteer at Hospital - 70 hours
-Medical Assistant at a Disadvantaged Clinic - 600 hours
-Medical Assistant Abroad - 540 hours
Shadowing:
-Pathologist - 24 hours
-Family Physician -40 hours
-GI Surgeon - 35 hours
-Plastic Surgeon - 16 hours
Non Clinical Experience:
-Mentoring Organization (4 years)
Extracurriculares:
-Founded a successful non profit organization
-Teaching assistant for an upper division science course
-Few other organizations part of the university
Research:
-3.5 years of experience, over 1000 hours, 2 abstracts and 1 publication
Work:
-Just got hired as an Opthalmic Scribe, will be working as a scribe during my gap year
Letters of Rec:
-8 letters from professors, physicians, mentors, and supervisors

Very few things are going to overcome a low MCAT score, and since you said this was your second attempt, any thought of taking it a third time must come with your confidence you can score at least 10 points higher for any shot at MD. You probably are good for DO applications, and that's where I would focus your attention. Get connected with current medical students at the schools you have near the top of your wish list for additional insight.

You could try these OOS MD schools:
TCU-UNT
Medical College Wisconsin
Rosalind Franklin
Oakland Beaumont
Quinnipiac
New York Medical College
Seton Hall
Also apply to at least 6 DO schools
