<<PLEASE HELP>>
Hi,
I'm a rising senior and wanted some help on drafting a feasible school list. I submitted my app on 7/22 to 2 schools, and I'm looking to add more.
GPA: 3.81/3.84 (top 15 school)
MCAT: 520 (130/128/132/130) just got my score back today
WI Resident (not sure if I actually count as a resident)
ORM
ECs on the weaker side (hours include the upcoming year for activities I'm still doing):
1. Hospital Volunteer, lots of patient contact (300 hrs over 3.5 years)
2. Shadowing (62 hrs in anesthesia, cardiothoracic surgery, plastic surgery, and emergency)
3. Received 2 summer research grants from my university to do:
a. Bio research at a first lab (400 hrs, summer after freshman year only; gave a presentation but no publications)
b. Bio research at my current lab (800 hrs, no posters/publications)
4. Library job (950 hrs over 3 school years)
5. General Chemistry Tutor (180 hrs of 2 years)
6. Officer of 1 club that fundraises for an underserved clinic (60 hrs)
7. Orchestra Violinist (80 hrs, freshman year only)
8. Played violin in a club (20 hrs, sophomore year only)
4 LORs so far (2 science, 1 nonscience, 1 PI) probably just average --> should I ask my volunteer coordinator to write one as well? If so, I probably won't be able to update the schools with it until October or so.
Personal Statement: decent but generic. MME descriptions are probably mediocre-average. (writing is not my forte)
Schools List so far:
(see below)
Ideally, I would like to get out of the Midwest and apply to schools that are either in California (have friends there), or in/around Pennsylvania (my parents are planning on moving there this year), but I'm down to apply to any school that is willing to have me.
Thank you in advance for your help!
