Hi all,

So I posted this before but I took a couple of college courses at a local college during high school and I got 1 NC, 1 A and an A-/A I forgot which. My principal said the courses would not affect us in college and because I had anxiety, I skipped the final (I just thought the class was easy and I get anxious when I am bored) but then I found out medical schools will find out about the courses.

Hopefully, the medical colleges do not put much weight on the grades since the college has an SAT score of about 1500.

Now, I go to a top 50 nationally ranked college and without counting the three courses taken during high school, I have a GPA of 3.48.

1st semester freshman:3.08 for 12 credits
2nd :3.42 for 12 credits
1st semester sophomore:3.85 for 16 credits

I have also done research with a graduate student in analyzing data using Python and will shadow doctors (not DO but I will apply to both DO and non-DO programs).

I was wondering what the chances of getting into PCOM is? It is my dream DO school and I will be so happy to be accepted🙂

ur only a sophomore????????

dude. ur doing fine. keep getting As in all your classes. study for the mcat when it comes. and your fine.

EDIT::: make sure u get a DO shadow before u apply, it can only help when applying to osteopathic schools

Graduate with 3.4+ sGPA, MCAT 504+, EC's like volunteering, community service, leadership roles, clubs, hobbies, etc. and shadow a DO and have him/her write you an LoR and you have a shot at PCOM (one of the harder schools to get in FYI).

P.S. - Also my dream DO school, unfortunately did not study hard enough in undergrad and my GPA has paid the price for it. Need to crush MCAT to have a shot now!

Grades are OK. Stay above 3.4 but aim for 3.6+ to keep doors open. You don't know how the mcat will go for you. Get some kind of clinical experience. I did EMT but I had a gap year to spare because I decided on medicine so late in the game (senior year). I recommend scribing.

Also note PCOM has an instate bias, as well as PCOM Ga. If you checkout PCOMs admissions stats you'll see it's not that hard to get into if your in state. Try and get into the idea of liking some other schools too lol

I had one NC in college and it didnt affect my gpa, and I was able to get 6 acceptances this cycle. Good Luck to you!

You have the neurosis to make an excellent SDN medical student one day.
