Brown takes mostly in-state applicants and those from the BS/MD program. Can probably also take out NYMC, Drexel, and another NY state school of your choice. Then take out 2-3 reach schools (Perelman, Harvard, Hopkins). Maybe take out the NJ ones as well if you're trying to cut down your list. Any other activities?

Goodluck with Harvard, everything else looks fine.

I would personally nix the NJ state schools. They tend to be very biased towards NJ residents and those that have ties to NJ (not just by living close by in NY).

You definitely have a shot at top 20 schools, but overall I think you're applying to too many. You should shorten your list by looking at the schools' missions. Was the adult English class a volunteer position? If you were paid, then you either need to pick up some more non-medical community service now or drop the more service-oriented schools. One week in Panama won't cut it.

Good luck.

The teaching position was volunteering. Also, I looked at several mission statements and they looked similar for the most part.

Is there anything in particular I should be looking for?

Why do you need to cut out some schools? Sure, some of the top schools are hard to get, but applying to Harvard, Hopkins, Penn, Cornell, and Yale increases your chance of getting into an Ivy than just applying to one of them. If money isn't an issue, why not just keep them?

Personally, I always found the mission statements of Medical schools to be very generic. Although I could just not be reading them carefully enough since I am not applying this year.

Why should someone take out the schools they probably have the best chance of getting into? I would keep all the NY state schools since being IS will give you an advantage.

The NJ schools have very strong preference for in state kids, so I would cut those
