Hi all, thanks in advance for your assistance. Just wondering if my list matches up with where I'll be competitive, I think I'm aiming a little too high. My stats are pretty good but my ECs are pretty standard so I'm wondering which mid tier schools to add to my list.
About me:
cGPA: 3.96
MCAT: 524
State of residence: PA
ORM (Asian male), traditional applicant
Undergraduate institution: State school
Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer):
- 50 hours volunteering with geriatric patients
- 150 hours volunteering at a children's hospital
Research experience and productivity:
- 2 years working in a cardiovascular research lab - 1200 hours, 3 local poster presentations, no pubs
- A year of research experience before this with nothing to show for it
- During my one gap year I will be conducting research at the NIH
Shadowing experience: 75 hours across 3 specialties
Non-clinical volunteering: 250 hours teaching at a local preschool, 50 hours at a soup kitchen
Other extracurricular activities:
-Peer mentor
- Tutor and TA for 5+ classes
- Leadership position in a club for a couple years
Neuro Major
School list (Not in any order):
1 Columbia
2 Harvard
3 Icahn
4 Johns Hopkins
5 Mayo MN
6 NYU
7 Northwestern
8 Penn
9 Stanford
10 UChicago
11 UVA
12 Vanderbilt
13 Washington University in St. Louis
14 Weill Cornell
15 Yale
16 Keck USC
17 Ohio State
18 Albert Einstein College of Medicine
19 Baylor College of Medicine
20 Boston University
21 Case Western Reserve University
22 Hofstra
23 Duke
24 UCLA
25 UCSF
26 University of Pittsburgh
27 University of Michigan
28 University of Cincinnati
29 University of Rochester
30 Emory
31 Temple
32 Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University
I mainly used MSAR to make my list and it's pretty long so I'd really appreciate any help in cutting it down or restructuring it to include more mid tiers/low tiers. Aiming for maybe 28-29 rather than 32. Thanks again!
