If you apply now you'll get into noncompetitive schools for sure.
If you retake the MCAT, get 35+, you'll get into just about anywhere.
That's good to hear.Terrific GPA. Your activities list is good. Of course your first-author pub "counts". Even published poetry counts if its not in a school publications.
For most Texas schools it won't matter. For a highly-selective AMCAS school, it matters a lot. It all depends on high you plan to aim.Is it okay that I don't really have any leadership positions?
If you want to stay in Texas you have NOTHING to worry about if you interview well. Southwestern and Baylor are reach due solely to your MCAT. I had zero luck with AMCAS schools but my MCAT was a lot lower than yours.
