Is there a consensus on which one is better for interviews?
Two button unless you are really tall.Is there a consensus on which one is better for interviews?
Why would you be wearing a suit in a hospital? Then again, I'm in a program that my former program director threatened to fire me if he saw me wearing a suit in the hospital.

This is awesome!Anything less than 5 buttons dooms you to family medicine in North Dakota

If you attend conferences and such. Try wearing a pocket hanky with one!Why would you be wearing a suit in a hospital?
I googled it. It's "Sometimes, always, never". Of course there are only two reasons to wear a three button suit: 1) you are monstrously tall, 2) you found a time machine to take you back to the 90's.

My suggestion for interviews of ANY type would be NOT to be the kind of applicant that worries about 2 versus 3 buttons on your suit.
I think if I were 6'5" or taller I would try rocking the 3-button suit.
Average height --> there is no choice. 2 button all the way
Idk, Steve Harvey looks damn good in 3 button suits and he's only 6'2"...

Steve Harvey looks like a clown in his suits.
Wasn't aware the world of fashion had given accolades to Steve Harvey for his suits. Either way, the "world of fashion" makes people look like clowns all the time in their runway shows. The world of fashion would disagree with you, but to each their own.
Edit: Not trying to recommend people wear a 3-button suit, just saying it works for some people.

Dumb question:
If we should never button the bottom button of a 2 button suit, why is there a button there at all?
The QI people at my institution would correctly point out that this is a system failure issue. Placing the button there clearly suggests that it should be buttoned, and hence someone will button it, yielding a catastrophe. Hence, the button should be removed for the good of all mankind. I should put some sort of hashtag here, but I don't know how to twitter.
It exists to identify the fashionably challenged
When you say suit, do you mean with a white coat or a suit jacket?I plan on wearing a suit to clinic and when I see inpatients as an attending.

I've come across this once before where a doctor called the attire a suit, which I thought was ridiculous. I just can't be too sure anymore, especially with doctors, which is why I asked SSwho calls slacks and a white coat a suit? 😳
You should wear a white coat over your suit.Correct. I mean a suit
