3 Schools = 3 Waitlists/Holds

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Lot's of people are in similar situations (including me).

Keep your head up, write LOIs, and hope for the best. :xf:

To answer your question, virtually every school fills a portion of their class from the WL each year. Depending on the school, it can be an extremely small portion, or a very large portion. Check the school-specific threads for more information on what 'being on the waitlist' means for that particular school. Best of luck.

Not everyone who get accepted matriculates. Depending on where you are on the list, there is a very real chance you could get int. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Good luck!

If I was you i would start preparing for the idea that I may have to reapply and to start improving your app. Find weaknesses and assess now so next cycle you can be more competitive. Its too hard to predict wl movement as even schools that have "good" movement normally can vary each year (i.e creighton last year).

I would start to prepare for the worst and start on reapplication. But you might still get in, so don't lose hope.

I am a reapplicant as it is... 😀

I'm in a similar situation: 5 waitlists

Also a reapplicant.

I may still get an interview from Buffalo, but I'm not holding out much hope. I'm also waiting on DO and I may still be able to fill out a few DO secondaries (but I doubt it'll help).

I can't start working on reapplication. How can I even strengthen my application anymore between now and June? It's simply not possible. And I'd have to retake the MCAT. So I'll probably spend two years doing work if I don't get in.

Ugh that really depresses me.

I'm looking at the same situation with just 2 schools...im assuming that you are on hold at south alabama. if you get waitlisted there, you have a good shot at getting in...i'm trying not to lose hope myself bc right now i don't want to think about going through with this process again. honestly, with my MCAT i just want to at least get waitlisted there so i have a shot. im just scared of the rejection letter.

by the way, given that im on hold, when will i hear something concerning being waitlisted or rejected? i mean, when they are done giving interviews, don't they drop the "bar" and give out more acceptance letters?...and if so, for the people who don't get an acceptance letter even then, do they send you something in March to tell you whether or not you are still being considered?...or do they just periodically notify people concerning being waitlisted/rejected until April 1st??
