3 weeks before the DAT...

Been studying 12 hours a day for 5 weeks plus 2-4 hours a day for 3 months before that. I have around 1400 flashcards, been through Destroyer once (two more times to go) and have taken 8 PAT's (CDPAT). I picked up Top Score tests for the week before and will prolly get the ADA 2009 one as well.

I am beginning to think that no matter what I do I am going to go down in flames. Not because I am doing poorly on the study materials...just because it is the inevitable feeling you get before the DAT apparently.

Someone tell me it's going to be okay...:scared::scared::scared::barf:

lol i feel your pain kid, i did my first top score today, it was actually decent, but you need to be careful. I made careless errors in orgo and didnt score as well as i wanted to. Also remember some sections aren't as comparable to the real DAT. The 2009 Test seems like the best bet, im saving that bad boy for later. Just do your stuff and dont feel stressed. If you have a high GPA you'll be fine.

Well, my GPA since I have gone back to do my pre-reqs is a 4.0. My Undergrad GPA (graduated in 2006) is a 3.0. I am trying to just "trust the process", but as you know it is a little mind numbing to say the least

I told you... your gonna end up with a 23.... watch

and yes, majority of us (no matter how hard we prepared) felt unprepared before the test.... its a sign that you actually care alot, its a good thing.

It'll be all over in 3 weeks

Agreed, I believe the 2009 ADA DAT will let you know where your weak.

But don't wait until too soon before the DAT to take the ADA practice DAT.

I took all three topscore test the week before my scheduled DAT, this was last week,. After each exam, I went over which ones I got wrong pretty meticulously, as to learn the material and not the question. Each test, I improved in every section. I took the 2009 ADA purchase DAT on Saturday and felt like I was a little caught off guard. I did not do as well as I wanted in GC or QR and overall felt like I need a little more time to do some fine tuning in all areas of the DAT. As a result, I have pushed my test back 3 more weeks. I would rather spend the 25$ to reschedule the test than have to retake.

Someone said something about the math section possibly being more difficult now that they have introduced the calculator. I think that is plausible. In my opinion the difficulty in the QR on the ADA sample is more interpretation and set up difficult than calculation difficult.

Speaking of, does anyone have a good approach to solving #4 and #6? Number 4, I have not giving much thought to. Number 6, I have evaluated way too much and have come up with 2 different ways to arrive at 14/3 for an answer. For some reason, when I try to upload the pictures of my solutions, it wants me to put in a url: address. So if someone wants to see what my approach was, shoot me a message with an email address and I will email the picture to you.

I think you are referring to the silvered box Ray of light question right? I don't have the test in front of me but solve it as a vector problem. You know that Ray of light must travel 13 units up and down from the point it starts at (I think). So you know the slope . So put the "run" over the "rise". And multiply it by how many up and down units you must travel to hit the bottom of the box ( 13 from memory). That is how many horizontal units you went. The box is only like 12 wide so subtract 12 from your answer. Then see how far that point is from the 0.

O and p2 don't worry, keep it up and take a half day the day before. No more than 5 hours be fresh for the exam

I would take a full length this weekend

Took my first Topscore full test today and did really well actually. Is the first one the easiest one? Seems like they would possibly get more difficult as they go.

TS = 21
AA = 21
RC = 20
BIO = 21
GC = 21
OC = 19
QR = 22
PAT = 20

Thanks for the advice on taking the practice test. It really boosted my confidence about this whole ordeal.

Once a day I feel like Chevy Chase during his freakout in "Christmas Vacation".....HALLELUJAH!!!!! HOLY SH!%!!!!!

You can do it !!! its the long haul, just go hard for the next 3 weeks and practice practice practice!! you can never feel prepared for this test....i would know bc i pushed my test back 3 times last summer bc i was paranoid everytime hahahaaaa, dont do this unless you really dont think youre ready

you know, before my DAT i never ever ever sat down and took a full length test.....i couldnt get myself to do it...& i didnt see the point?! and sort of still dont....but when i got to my test I was so calm during the whole thing and wasnt stressin about section after section, i guess i prepared myself mentally instead for sitting there for 4+ hours
but perhaps when I take it again, ill try to take a full length practice beforehand?
