Non-trad here. Some schools want a LOR from a non-science professor. The only one I have available is from my graduate school professor/thesis advisor. It was written in 2020. The problem is, he wrote it for my application to humanities fellowships, not for medical school. Should I include it anyway? I cannot get an updated letter because he died. And all of my postbac courses were sciences.

I am certain it will be a strong letter; he praised my writing in class and over email. But I wonder if med schools will think it strange that it's clearly directed toward humanities programs.

Email the schools and ask if they'd accept an employer letter or similar as you're a Non-Trad and your previous non-STEM letter writer has died.
