Sept 4 2014 MCAT(10 PS/10 VR/11BS)
PROS
Volunteering at a underserved hospital Jan 2013-present (300 hrs)
Volunteered at a medical clinic at a homeless shelter for a year (150 hrs)
TA for Orgo during senior year at ASU
Academic mentor at ASU senior year
Boys mentor at salvation army for service learning credit
Currently work at an anesthesia billing service (been there for 6 mos): gotten very comfortable with medical billing and ICD-9 and CPT coding
Strong letters: from an MD anesthesiologist who owns one of the corporation that I Bill for, the professor I TA'd for, the professor who taught the academic mentoring class, and the volunteer coordinator at the underserved hospital
I have tutored for about 2 years for science subjects for varsity tutors (nationally recognized company), helping high school and college students
Shadowed over 200 hours in the OR with the anesthesiologist, as well as over 60 hrs with an ER doc (MD)
Recovered from a Traumatic brain injury suffered in 2011 as a result of falling from my roof, which required me to take a medical withdrawal for the fall 2011 semester.

CONS
Underaged DUI in 2010 (for sleeping in my car :-/)
MIC in 2010 for being at a party at ASU

I have applied to 13 MDs and 2 DOs with the following results:
rejected from UA Phx(state school), interview hold at UA Tucson & midwestern(states)
haven't heard from the following:
Quinnipiac
Creighton
Midwestern-Downers grove
Rosalind Franklin
Drexel
Toledo

I've been accepted to Tulane MS in micro/immuno. Also applied to the following SMP s:
Rosalind franklin
Tulane MS pharm(if u consider that an SMP)
Planning to apply to Temple ACMS program

I understand that my convictions most likely red flagged me, but since 2010
I have been doing everything in my power to head down the right path and hope that adcoms can see this. I am kind of confused as to why I haven't gotten an interview at any school?I am prepared to accept a solid SMP and apply again if need be, but don't know if I am getting a head of myself yet. Any thoughts/opinions?

I'm surprised that you haven't had better luck, especially with your state schools. I don't think that the red flags are all that red.....they were, after all, four years ago. Toledo, being a state school, was probably not a good choice if you don't have significant ties to OH.

Did you have an interview at UAzT and Midwestern? If so, the holds would imply that your interview skills were lacking.

You might have a poor LOR in your packet that's holding you back as well.

You might need to think about reapplying. I'd add more DO schools, and try to get feedback from the schools that rejected you. You're competitive for any DO school.

I have had no interviews just been told from these schools that they are keeping my app open for a potential interview in the future. The only thing I can think of is that maybe my late MCAT pushed me to the back of the app pile
