Last few years I had some crazy course load ...summer class+18-22 hours a semester. So how I have 34 hours left to finish my major minor and honor degree. Do you guys think I should just take like ...14 hours a semester for the last 3 semester or take some extra stuff (which I already have alot of) and have like 18 hours a semester? I already took my mcat already and have a perfect gpa...

Btw for my school they charge by the hours of class you take. So...18 hours cost hundreds of dollar more than 14 hours. If I take 18 hours my tuition is free if i take less they pay me hundreds of dollar! 😛

Do you think if I take minimum hours med school is going to discriminate against it?

Take the minimum amount possible and save yourself the money! I dropped a class this term to save money as well, so I'm only taking 12 credits haha. 8.5% tuition hike this year. 🙁

Since you have the room, I would try and make sure that the fall semester you apply in is relatively light. Interviews can be a hassle.

Ahh...the joys of only having 18 credit hours...those were the days...

Thus far, we took 81 credit hours during M1, 15 in M2, and will be finishing another 10-15 (no idea what it actually is) on Monday...yay...school.

Heck, just take 12! If you've got a perfect GPA and a good MCAT through all of your early semesters, they won't care that you dropped down to 12--you already proved, over-and-above, that you can handle the courseload in medical school (as well as you can, anyways). Make these last 3 semesters a time to A) Catch up on clinical experience and other ECs if you've been skimping out on those to maintain your grades, and B) HAVE FUN. I love med school, but you're never going to have the endless possibilities that come with being in college ever again.

I've heard other people compare undergraduate credit hours with medical school credit hours. While I completely agree the average medical student does a lot more work than the average pre-medical student, 81 credit hours on the same scale as undergraduate courses would be physically impossible. That's like taking 3 years of college in one year of medical school. Medical school moves quickly, but not that quickly. I would bet that medical school would be more like taking 23-25 credit hours during a semester (the scale being one undergraduate class is equivalent to 3 credit hours).

Take the minimum possible credits to maintain fulltime status so you don't lose financial aid, have loans go into repayment, or face any other issues. Use the extra time to work on ECs.
