Hello everyone. I'm a 36 year old former pre-med who is looking to come back into the fold. Need some feedback on my plan to begin again.

Pre-reqs completed: Gen Chem 1 & 2, Organic 1, and 4 biology classes (Bio 1, Micro, A&P 1 & 2) in the 2006-2008 timeframe. Had All As with exception of B in Gen Chem 2 and C in Organic.

Pre-reqs lacking: Organic 2, Phys 1 & 2

Plan: DIY post-bacc at local community college.

Caveats: I got a C when I originally took Organic 1, and I remember virtually nothing of it, so I will re-take. I haven't touched higher order math (re: precalc/trig) in a while, so I am a little worried about Physics.. but I think it will all come back to me with a little prep.

This plan puts me at a minimum 4 courses needed (org 1 & 2, phys 1 & 2). I have a myriad of professional and familial responsibilities, so I think I can take a maximum of two courses per semester. Will begin independent study for MCAT prep along the way, then ramp that up formally once I am on the last semester of coursework. After the org/phys sequences I may take biochem while I am studying for MCAT.

Does this seem feasible? Any glaring holes? Recommendations? Thanks for any feedback.

Check how your school list handles old prereqs, some consider them expired after 5-10y. You'll also have to acquire new volunteering and clinical work if you've been out of healthcare. Research is less of a hard requirement for us old guys from what I can tell. Otherwise, g2g.

Good algebra skills are probably enough to manage most MCAT problems.
For pre-reqs you won’t need Calculus but almost certainly a Statistics course. A grasp of stats will help you on all those MCAT graphs as well as understanding scientific papers you will read
