Hey guys I've been going through, my biology text book, and it states a total of 38ATPS are produced through glycolysis, kreb cycle, and the electron transport chain. I've read other places its 36. I've also read 36 for eukaryotes and 38 for prokaryotes. I'm guessing my text book, is generally going through these concepts with the prokaryotic cell in mind. I just want to make sure what the right numbers are.

Total: it is 36, but yes 38 is indeed made, but 2 ATP is used up to transport the 2 NADH that was made in the cytoplasm to the mitochondria.
