I took the April MCAT and got a 38L (PS: 12 VR: 13 B:13). I want to apply to MD/PhD prorams, but I am not sure how negatively the L will affect my chances. I actually CAN write well, I swear! I was thinking maybe I should get a letter from one of my English Prof's to send in with my secondary. Do you think that is a good idea? Do I still have a chance of getting an interview? Let me know what you think.

Thanks!
Denny

Ignore the L. It doesn't matter. No adcom will care. Of course the same advice applies to everyone: Make sure you do a good job on your essays and make sure they're logical, coherent, and don't have grammar/spelling mistakes.

So how is a 38L better than a 30T?

I was in a similar situation (35M). I was pretty worried when I got my score back, because I know that everyone says that the writing section doesn't matter, but I wasn't sure what admissions would think if the score was pretty bad (and the last thing I wanted to do was retake the whole MCAT just to bring up my writing score). But nobody seemed to care in interviews or any other situation - it was never brought up at any point. So I really wouldn't worry about it - it is probably not going to make or break your application.
