I'll keep this short but just want to know my chances for a formerly osteopathic program. I go to a school that typically matches well in ortho.

Step 1: low 250s
Level 1: 660s
Step 2 and Level 2: assume I stay in same range
Research: 2 ortho pubs, 6-7 presentations at local/regional conferences all ortho related, a couple other research experiences which did not result in pubs/presentations
LORs: This is where I am concerned, so far only 1 letter from non-ortho
Volunteering: Enough
No leadership roles. I did play a D2 college sport. Low-SES background (not sure if this matters for residency)
I will be doing roughly 5 months of aways at 5-6 programs, all programs where my school has matched applicants before.

My main concern is obviously LORs. I am in a tough spot where I cant do an ortho elective during third year per school policy, and have been trying to get into contact with my home program attendings but it has been a hassle thus far. I have general surgery in 2 months, and heard I can potentially focus on the ortho cases and maybe get a LOR from that before I start aways in August. So my question is, how common is it to secure LORs from early auditions before ERAS is submitted? I'm starting auditions with my home program most likely to try and get 1-2 LORs from it. I've never had an ortho mentor other than one who has been retired for some time so it has been a struggle. Any advice for securing these LORs?
