Middle of 3rd year. ****ty pt family so far. I have only done a few IAN blocks on my own pts, a few operative cases. I have very little confidence in my clinical operative skills now. I've only packet 1 cord. No crown preps. And we all know that assisting these procedures is not the same as doing them. Any one else in my boat? I have some good operative scheduled before the semester ends. But i just have no confidence because i'm not performing these procedures as much as my classmates are. Some of the externships i plan to do this summer will have me delivering care to pts in a hospital setting and I really don't feel competent/confident enough to do this.
Another big thing is just the idiosyncrasies and wacko administrative procedures of clinic but i will keep learning that as i go.
Hopefully once i get going on that operative in a few weeks things will change, but holy ****- I'm a 3rd year dental student, I shouldn't be nervous about local anesthesia technique, placing a rubber dam, and packing cord. fml.
Any similar feelings?
