I plan on going to 10 interviews this cycle, but my issue is that I applied primarily to 4 year spots. I’m currently a dental student and while I feel like I’m in a great position, it seems like many of these programs will just pick up their non-cat or someone with non-cat years.

For example, there are a handful of programs that have only picked up people with non-cats for the past couple years, but still interviewed me.

I’m still worried about going unmatched, but I’m curious if there are any residents or faculty here with behind the scene knowledge or any insight into how a program makes their rank list?

No one has an answer to this question that holds any value. We don't know you, we don't know your app, we don't know who you are up against, we don't know your interview skills, and we don't know the programs you are referring to.

Try to take it easy and hope for the best.

All I can say is that it is still possible to match at a 4 year program straight out of school. I was able to last cycle.
